A Marine for God

I live in a world where my God isn’t looked at like the way that you or I view Him. More than anything, he is looked at like a complete joke. Every day I hear the Lord’s name taken in vain well over a hundred times followed by large amounts of profanity.

In this world prostitution is looked at as something funny; something to do when you haven’t seen your girlfriend, your wife or your husband in a while. “Not a big deal, its only $180! I get paid this Friday!” Prostitution is not only a prominent pastime but also mass amounts of pornography. If I walk through ten different rooms during free time, I can guarantee you that roughly 7 of them are filled with others watching porn.

This world that I live in is known as the US Military.

As a Christian, I am made fun for my beliefs. They think I’m crazy for believing in “church”. Every day I’m tempted with porn, using language, underage drinking, and prostitution.

But every day that I resist these temptations, I grow stronger!

It is my job to spread the love of God to everyone that will listen.

Currently, with God’s help, I have two other Marines attending a church that I was told about. I hope and pray that more will come. We need to stand out against the people who try to bring us down, stop caring about what people think and just live our lives with a passion for God. If I can do this within my surroundings and the constant peer pressure, then you can too! Isaiah 7:9 says:

“If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.”

Also see Galatians 5:1. I know we all mess up; we are only human. I’ll be the first to admit that I mess up daily. But we can’t let that get us down. We just have to learn from our mistakes and move on with God’s work.
